Also try ebay and calling salvage yards though don't be surprised if everything has over 100K miles, it's a 14 year old car after all. I think the manual transmission from all 1st gen 3's are basically interchangeable with the only designation being with or without ABS.
That is right, all I could find in Ebay were transmissions for models without ABS. Mine has ABS and I have to do research to see if those are fine to fit in my car, How about the repair kit? Slowly my 3rd gear synchronizer is going bad.
I'm not sure there is a "repair kit". You basically need to take the transmission apart, see what parts are damaged or worn out of spec, order what you need from Mazda, install the parts, and reassemble.
I got a coute for some possible items needed for a repair, such as syncro gears , seals, and... not too expensive. I guess it is duable and affordable to repair. Soon will do it.
Post some pictures of the parts when you can. Plenty of knowledgeable and friendly folks here as well as informative and insightful discussion threads. Enjoy your time here!
Yesterday, I went to Mazda dealership and I got a $3,650 quote for brand new tranny (part only), LOL!!!
I did this because my mechanic said that the dealers have outdated brand new transmissions that they have to sell, and I may get one cheap. But I guess it is not cheap, apparently.
