I can't even remember the show he was on when this happened, but some conservative guy was railing on him because he interviewed someone (memory is bad, it was a bit ago) and didn't ask him certain questions. He basically retorted by yelling "My show comes on after a show about puppets making prank calls!" It might have been hiding behind the fact that he was on Copmedy Central, but I thought it was hilarious.

Lol the link I posted in my original post is the episode you're talking about.

Yep, where is DUBS and his Mr. Bean avatar when you need him.* :P

Murph - Jon Stewart is an assclown. Regardless of whatever you or anyone else thinks of him, I'm envious because he makes lots of money!

p.s. had to throw in a couple of smileys cuz i know murph loves them so much....

Analogy: two kids throw spitballs in class. One kid gets detention, the other doesn't because he's in special ed and they don't hold him to the same standard. *The kid in special ed continues to throw spitballs, AND he tells the teacher every time the other kids do it too. *That kid may be special, but he's still an asshole.

Why is there so much debate in this thread? *For crying out loud, it's Comedy Central. *Who cares what the guise is? *Do ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, FOX, ad infinitum, have a slanted bias - regardless of claims such as "fair and balanced" reporting, or the cover of comedy? *
[/quote]

First, I thought we had been having a pretty good discussion about why we like Jon Stewart and what kind of journalistic responsibility he should be accountable for. Not a debate at all.

Second, the issue was directly brough up in the initial post by the references to him kicking ass. It is precisely that ass kicking and whether or not he is an assclown because of it that we are talking about.

Jon Stewart would agree O'Reilly is entertainment as well. *The difference is, he's on a real channel, not ComCentral.

I think a lot of people would say you have it backwards.

even so....does being on Comedy Central absolve you of the kinds of responsibility that Stewart believes O'Reilly should be held accountable for? I don't think it does. But even if I did, I would STILL think it's wrong for Stewart to hide behind that.

Also, enough of the proper news media treat the Daily Show with enough seriousness that I believe he has the right to voice his own non-comedic opinion. *Sure he's biased, but so is nearly everyone else, except for the boring news robots on some networks.

that was on Crossfire. It was funny as shit. And then he called Carlson a dick. Too funny.

And I'll agree that he should be able to use his show to push his agenda. But he shouldn't be coming down on other show hosts for doing the same thing and then hiding behind comedy.
