email subscriptions have gone crazy

Starting on about June 10th email subs went haywire. I keep getting "New Topic" notification emails for topics which most certainly are not new. This happens on a lot of threads that I am subscribed to and some that I used to be subscribed to but no longer am. I'm not sure what the pattern is. One minute I'll get a new topic email, and a minute later I'll get a regular reply email for the same thread. Here's an example of a new topic email for an old topic.

Quote:
Subject: New Topic: What's on your mind at this instant? v. 2.0

Body:
A new topic, 'What's on your mind at this instant? v. 2.0', has been made on a board you are watching.

Re: email subscriptions have gone crazy

OK I just figured out the pattern here. Anytime someone posts to the forum using the Tapatalk app the email subscription service treats it as a new topic, even though it isn't.

Can you forum wizards fix this?

Re: email subscriptions have gone crazy

Because Sdemo45 has been using it and every email notification I receive that incorrectly says it's a new thread is generated by one of his posts.

Re: email subscriptions have gone crazy

Have you looked at the list of threads you're being notified on the bottom half of the screen of the notifications section of your profile settings? It's possible that sdemo45 is just replying to the same threads that you are and all those threads happen to be in your notifications list. You can deselect them from that list. Not sure if it'll help, but it's worth a try.

Re: email subscriptions have gone crazy

I'm not saying that I shouldn't be receiving a notification of a post, because I should. I am subscribed to the thread (for email notifications). The issue is that the forum thinks when it gets a post from tapatalk that it's a brand new thread, even when it's not. Then it sends me an email saying a new thread has been posted, when in reality it's just a reply to an existing thread. Does that make sense?

Re: email subscriptions have gone crazy

So you want it to send you a notification of new posts. It is sending you notifications of new posts but it's calling them new threads. Do I have that correct? Other than the terminology is it actually a difference in the number of emails you're getting?
