Local Sell threads

After having a light bulb go off, I read the rules on the buy/sell. No where does it say that a member who is able to sell, can not post a thread only in their region to sell there item. However, mods and RCs (including myself in the far past) either move them or delete the posts due to the OP creating it in their region. As long as this practice is acceptable, a memo should be sent out to leave those posts alone.

I personally feel that if someone wants to sell local, they have a right to post it in their region as long as all the requirements are met. I for one don't check the buy/sell too often because I have no money but I am always on my regional thread and if I came across a great deal and didn't have to get it shipped, I would deff go for it.

Making them post in the general buy/sell does get them more traffic, however; I am also sure it brings the wrong traffic for the most part.

I think that would be a really good idea....I for one would pick up alot more parts if they were located at least within a road trip.

Re: Local Sell threads

yes...this is one thing that drives me nuts.........lets get more talk on this subject....

also, having them in the general buy/sell makes them disappear down the list rather fast and in the end makes it harder for a buyer to find something local and harder for someone to sell locally.

For regional sale only please simply note in your FS thread that it is for pickup only. I have seen quite a few people that do that. Then if the item does not sell in their region they can turn to their already created post and try it sell it with shipping rather than having to create a second post to address the new range of potential buyers.

Thank you

Re: Local Sell threads

I agree.....I made a thread like this a while back and it was pretty much ignored....I really don't understand why local sale threads are so frowned upon by some mods.

Re: Local Sell threads

I made one the other day and it was closed with in mins by you know who. Yea, I didnt have a picture but for a local thread, I dont think it's really needed. The person is going to see it before they buy. I was also told to put it in the FS thread...yea, ok...not going to.

Re: Local Sell threads

lol. Yeah, I'm pretty sure i know who.

I have to agree with the no picture thing though. you should post a picture regardless and abide by all the B/S rules.

Finally a ruling that makes complete and total sense!!!!!

I commend you in your re-evaluation of the previous miss-interpretation (and application) of the policies and transparency in the way you resolved it.
