I found a good set of rules, some of which we might be able to use:
Welcome to www.mazda3forums.com
. The purpose of this board is to serve as a database of general information on the 3 and a community of 3 owners and enthusiasts. In order to provide the best environment for everyone, we like to promote a spirit of tolerance and respect between users.
These are our member guidelines or rules. These are subject to minor changes every now and then.
Posting and Access Rules
E-mail verification: You must have a valid e-mail and confirm your registration to have access to post.
User levels: There is no difference between a low post count (LPC) user and a high post count (HPC) user. There are no extra benefits, special titles, special avatars, cookies, awards, or recognition. As such, anyone can upload a custom avatar or change their user title or put images in their sig (abuse of these benefits will not be tolerated), as long as it stays at 5 lines or fewer (or 300x100 graphic). Avatar max size is 125x125.
Useless Posts: Increasing your post count serves no purpose (see above), so don't post useless posts.
Double posting: Try to avoid "double posting", posting the same thing in several areas of the forum. Be patient when hitting the submit button. If you really must double post, please check with a moderator first.
Search Feature: Before posting, try the search button as some things have been discussed in detail, and it usually helps to find what you're looking for. In the search feature, words of less than 3 letters are not indexed, so you cannot use them in a search. As such, avoid short words like to, in, on.
Use the right forum: Post in the forum closest relating to your question. Moderators will move the thread if they deem appropriate. Street racing posts belong in the lounge.
Selling stuff: As an individual, you can advertise for stuff you want to sell or group buys you want to organize. Commercial advertising will only be permitted if you are an Authorized Vendor (AV). To become an AV you must provide valid contact information and maintain a satisfactory standing of service to your clients. There is no fee to become an AV at this time. Please check the Authorized Vendor forum for more information.
Advertising limitations: Posts for sales, group buys, and AV offers must be placed in the correct forum. We have zero tolerance policy for multiple advertisement posts (spamming).
Take it easy: Don’t intentionally start online fights known as “Flamewars”. Any threads which degenerate into a Flamewar will be locked. That also means no “Trolling”: The act of intentionally posting inflammatory threads for no other purpose than to provoke others. Please keep cussing to a minimum as well.
No newbie bashing: Be nice to new people. We all asked “old” questions when we first found this site. Give new users the info they are looking for and inform them of the search button.
Personal attacks: Personal disputes will not be tolerated. No disclosure of inappropriate information will be tolerated. Inappropriate personal comments will be edited by moderators and replaced with “[inappropriate comment removed by moderator]”.
Offensive posts: Please make an effort to limit potentially offensive posts. A word of advice: there is greater tolerance for potentially offensive posts (cussing, obscene jokes, ...) in the lounge forum. Posts deemed " too offensive will be: edited, or in extreme cases, deleted.
Enforcement: We are an easy going group of people. Most infractions are overlooked, with no criticism to the user. Though we do not keep records, further infractions will prompt warnings from moderators, usually in a post, private message, or email. Beyond this, we deal with each case individually, attempting to best deal with the differences between the user and the rest of the board community, to come to a solution that is beneficial to everyone.
This forum is a privilege, not a right. Treat this forum as you would any social environment. As a user, you are expected to understand that the same rules of respect, understanding, and cause-consequence that apply to real life social environments apply here as well. Be aware that someday you might meet these people and that it is probably a good idea to be courteous and helpful to all users.
