09 mazdaspeed3 is burning oil and blowing smoke

i just recently bought a 09 mazdaspeed 3 a week ago to have as a project/build car. It ran awesome for a few days then I started smelling something burning. i checked my oil and my dipstick was dry. It had brand new oil and was full when i drove it off the lot. I had my friend drive behind me he had told me that it stinks very bad and that i am blowing smoke sometimes as well. My car still has great power and is boosting. I did see it blow a little bit of black smoke on a start up when i had someone start it( he reved after turning the key) but What should I be looking for?
Hope to have some positive feedback from you guys. thankyou!

If by 'positive', you mean encouraging, I don't think that's possible given what you described. Although you'll want to checked for a clogged PCV first, you'll likely need to be doing a compression test - dry first then wet.
