Back in a Mazda3 again!

Happy to reintroduce myself to the forum.

Today I bought a 2006 Mazda3s Touring sedan, 5sp, 73k, Winning Blue/Black leather, in immaculate condition, at an outstanding price, from a very wonderful private owner.

I've owned a lovely 2007 Mazda3i Touring sedan, 5sp that was since sold to a happy neighbor, and a rotten 2008 Mazda3i Touring sedan, A/T that ended up with a blown head and trans, since sold as a donor car.

Needless to say, the 3rd time looks like it's going to be the charm. This will become my beloved weekend and summer car.

Someday I intend to show it to my nieces, nephews, grandchildren, etc. when they ask "what is a stick shift?"

Have a great day, everyone!

Congratulations on the new (to you) car; given you have the troublesome 2.3 in your car, it might be wise for you to keep your eye peeled for a low mileage Ford Duratec 2.5 to transplant into your car when the 2.3 fails.

To counterpoint the above, I have the "troublesome" 2.3 in my 2004. I got it at 114,000 miles, it now has >210k. The only thing I've had to do to the engine, (knock on wood) is oil changes and replace a (slightly) leaky cam cover gasket.

I change my oil religiously, using only Mobil1 Gold Cap or Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. I've always used either Mann, Mahle, Wix, or OEM filters. I did do the spin on oil filter conversion about a year ago.

This car hasn't seen too many miles, and I intend to keep it that way. Checking oil is well worth the upside of the extra HP delivered by this engine over the 2.0L.
