Question Hopefully you all can help me out.

Hello, I'm a long term 2005 Mazda 3 S HB owner, but new here. I know my post probably doesn't belong here, if not please let me know and I'll take it down.

I own a 2.3L Mazda 3 S Hatchback 5 - Speed, that is rotting away. I found a 2003 Mazdaspeed Protégé for a reasonable price that is great body wise, but the 2.0 needs to be replaced so the price is really good.
I assume you all have knowledge not just on 3's but other Mazdas as well. Does anyone know if the 2.3 would bolt up to the stock Protégé transmission? Or if the entire engine cradle with transmission would bolt under the Protégé? I've been looking around online for a couple hours now trying to find the exact engine and transmission model numbers to try and see if they are compatible, but I'm coming up empty and I don't want to miss the deal on this Protégé if my 2.3 will fit. the 2.0 in the Protégé is blown, but maybe it's just cheaper to rebuild the original engine?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
