New Here: Not New to Fusions
I had not thought about coming to a Fusion Forum before, but I find myself in need of opinions. Hopefully this forum will be as helpful as my motorcycle forum.
First off. I have been a Fusion owner since March of 2007 when I bought my 2007 Fusion SEL 3.0L with light stone interior and almost all options except navigation. It was the dark metallic blue. Unfortunately last week I was rear ended on the highway and pushed into the car in front of me. There was full airbag deployment and the crumple zones did their thing. No cabin intrusion at all. I walked out of the car, albeit a little sore and stiff, i was able to go home to my kids and husband. The car performed her safety jobs perfectly!! I had 143000 miles on it, which I had all put on. The car ran like a top, and even with a smashed front end the tow truck guy still started it and drove it on the flatbed. I took immaculate care of my car and always changed the fluids etc. Actually, my awesome hubby did all that, being a former blue oval certified technician.
Anyway, I am now looking for a replacement Fusion. I don't want to buy new. We just dont feel like going that deep into a car when we just paid a bunch of stuff off. The thought of a car payment doesn't thrill us. We momentarily looked at other makes and models, and them thought, why? We liked the Fusion! Although, I will say the Avalon was a sweet ride!!
I am currently looking at 2010-2012 models. I love the newer styling. I initially was only looking at the 6 cylinders when today I came across the car I would love, but its the I-4. This 2011 has less than 5000 miles and the price is decent. It has almost everything except a spoiler, and I can add that. I need imput from those who have made the change or know some info. Will I be happy with the I-4 after coming off a long history of 6 cylinder cars?
My personal driving preferences: I like my power and pick up. I like to put my car through its paces from time to time on a windy road. Not nearly like I did before kids with my Probe GT. But, I do enjoy driving, and always have. I do a fair number of mom's taxi cab service with kids in sports and such. We have two kids 13 and 11 who are not getting smaller. Son is 11, 5'6" 140lbs, Size 11 men's shoe. Yikes. I do not like a car I have to really push hard to accelerate into traffic. I like to punch it and merge in. No messing around with having to wait for the hamsters to get the wheel spinning first like in the current Jeep rental. If the Fusion i4 behaves like the jeep, I will have to passand keep shopping for that 3.0L or maybe even 3.5L!!
I know this kind of sounds like I made up my mind already, but I havent. Certain things about the I-4 appeal to me, like the better fuel mileage. I am a commuter, so that would help!!
Any imput is appreciated.
