Exclamation License plate lamps

Recently purchase my 2010 Ford Fusion SEL 2.5 Its pretty nice but I found the license plate bulb burn out and rust in both sides, while trying to clean it up damgaged one of them, I order both license lamps
Can anyone tell me why? how to prevent it?

Is the car still under warranty? I would have had the dealership fix this if so.

Unfortunately, sometimes you can't really prevent parts like that from rusting. If the previous owner didn't maintain the vehicle properly (IE: adequate rust protection measures) then there is not much you can do.

My brothers 08 fusion had the same thing. Nothing they could do about it. Maybe seal it up really good or Google the problem. I'm sure it's common, unfortunately.

Yep. Happened with mine as well. Just a flaw in the design as water must penetrate the seal. Very common with these cars.

License plate lamps

Well one of my lights went out and I noticed one of the screws is stripped out and won't tighten up. :/
