A Perfect cup of Coffee

A trip to Mariposa Coffee Company

Mariposa Coffee Company - Mariposa, CA - Local Business - About | Facebook

A happen by chance a while ago while returning from a weekend get away and lucky for us the owner Gerry was roasting that morning.
This was the beginning of a new hobby for me. Most any other day, although I have always liked my coffee and brew fresh whenever I had the time but after going and seeing how coffee beans are actually roasted and all the smells and first hand experiencing a bean from the begin to its final roasted end result got me really into making coffee.

until you become a coffee snob
now there are only a handful of places that i can drink their coffee
i check the advertising to see which beans they use, then have a smell as i wait to order
then usually end up leaving
i take a litre (quart) of espresso to work with me, usually lasts until i get home

One of the best cups of coffee I ever had was back in 1990 at McDonalds........in Hong Kong.

Go figure.

Coffee away from where you live many times seems to taste better. I know when we go up top Oregon I like Dutch Bros. Coffee.
Unfortunately I may have become a coffee "snob" now and the usual coffee shops never have coffee as good as home ground and brewed now.

You will understand as I post more pictures in the future .......

Not necessarily. The coffee we had in Japan was really good, having been purchased from vending machines. Think something like a soda machine, except a can of coffee is dispensed. It's hot, but not hot enough to burn one's hand. The Japanese have been tea drinkers for centuries and, from what I understand, had "discovered" coffee within 20 of our port visit.

I've had my share of burnt & bad gas station coffee while on road trips. I had to travel to Florida on business in May, and our office out there has horrible coffee. I think the coffee on most airlines is fairly awful as well. I was stationed in the Seattle area when Starbucks really started taking off, and I thought their coffee tasted like ass. I never got into adding anything more than cream & sugar to mine. I think I tried a cup a couple of years ago and -- yup, Starbucks still tastes like ass.

I didn't know what truly good coffee was until my mother made some with an antique stove top percolator when I was in my early-20s. It wasn't until a few years ago I finally bought a grinder and stove top percolator. Noting smells better (to me) than percolated coffee as it's finalizing brewing.
