mazda HIGH insurance Rate??

So i just renewed my car insurance this week without looking into it, just paid the down payment, but when i got my paperwork, the mazda is over twice the amount of my Dakota for PIP, $832.XX for 6 months with normal payment schedule, and this is with Floridas BARE Minimum..... with no extra services.....

its not like i did something to incur a rate hike, no accidents in the last 5 years, no tickets in a while. Premium for my Dakota is $310, and the mazda is $502

just figured id ask you guys if anyone elses mazda 3 insurance is so high, and why? will they say like they did with the honda, "Hondas are known for getting tickets, being stolen and getting into accidents" ??? same with the 05 Chevy Impala i had "They have a high theft rate" the insurance rates dont make sense IMO, i can buy a 04 cummins and have a low insurance rate, but i can roll coal and keep up with Alot of cars in the street, And in the rain?, Whats traction??

If my insurance rates going to be through the roof with a mazda, im going to be more inclined to do a boosted build sooner than later... the hell with a NA 200hp Engine, if its possible to build a boosted 2.5, that Will be in the works for next year

Since I'm sure you know that high theft rate and so on have nothing to do with PIP you can leave it out of the conversation. I've noticed that my Ex-wife's 3, my wife old 3, my daughter's 3 and my 3 (all 2005s, the best year 3 IMNSHO) have all had the highest rate for PIP and Medical Payments coverage than any car on the policy. It has to do with the VIR (vehicle injury rating) which is a 3 (the worst). The rating can be further compounded by loss experience for your area.

Honestly, i dont know squat about insurance and how all that works LOL.......... ive heard the insurance lingo a thousand times and i still dont understand it

i didnt inquire with the company why the insurance is so high, i was saying the theft rate as per the last two vehicles, Civic and Impala, thats what i was told, i literally jumped into the mazda without thinking of any of these factors, but with the crash rating being so low, that would make sense....

when i did the swap, i did recall saying "Damn there aint much to the front of this car,", just a thin bumper and an engine between you and another car

You have to call around until you find a company that will give you a good quote. Insurance companies have different target audiences, and if something about you, your record, your neighborhood or your car doesn't "fit", they'll charge you a fortune.

I paid $50/mo here in QC for my mazdaspeed3. FYI, that is pretty cheap, even for Quebec. Interestingly enough, my premium used to be $80, but when I moved out of the city and into a brand new subdivision, the same company jacked my rate up to $200/mo. I said "go F yourselves", cancelled my contract with them, and found a different company that ended up giving me that $50/mo rate i mentioned.

I sold my speed3 and bought a WRX. The company that had given me the good rate on my speed gave me a decent rate ($70/mo, but much newer car) and i would have stayed with them, but they had mandatory $300 anti-theft engraving. I said "go F yourselves, I'm not putting useless engravings on my car", called 6 different companies until I found one that didn't require some sort of anti-theft and that one was only $60/mo.

There you have it. Call around.

When you look at the actuarial data (the data which shows loss rates by car type, make, model, equipment, color, geographic region, driver history...), you'll see rates pretty much follow the experience each individual company has logged over a period of years.

Essentially, just buy a Diesel pickup truck and youre good to go........... cheap insurance, shit tons of power, and you wont get hurt in an accident........

But seriously, if i knew my mazda was gonna have high insurance regardless of HP....... id have just taken over my boys Speed3 he gave back to the bank.... and he spent a shit ton to make sure it didnt affect his credit, he offered for me to take it, but i declined due to my medical problems and surgery i will be facing soon
