Food for Thought...

So in the last few months I spent a shitload of $$$ and repairs...it ALL started with accidentally running over those damn to hell Steel Plates in the road...
Thought I make a list of stuff:

- New Rear Endlinks
- New Passenger Side Front Axle
- New Coilovers (front Struts & Mounts were shot)
- 2 New front tires
- New Car Battery
- New RMM
- Had to repair Transmission Fill Tube O-ring (hope that solved my leak)

Man...I swear if something else breaks or needs replacement...Argh!....LoL

In other news, probably going to pull the trigger and get myself an E46 ASAP. This taking crap because of waking up the baby so I can go to work thing is getting old, and I kind of miss having a car I can work on.

Oh good, you and Phil can be buddies again lol

I was looking at older BMWs for a while (e30-36 range), but then came to the conclusion that e30s while cheap, are cheap because they don't run, and you can't fix them because all spare parts have been bought up, and anything else is overpriced, and expensive to maintain.

Still would love either though....

I almost even moved on a 90s 4 door 5 series. I know... weird. I'm glad I didn't though, Miata is too much fun, I wanted a small car really anyways.

E46s are getting there though as far as prices goes, but, it's still a BMW. Even aftermarket replacement parts are overpriced.

<Liberace Mode>Why that BMW is just FAAABulous!!</LM> Thinking a run-of-the-mill stock BMW of that age wouldn't merit a 3-row Tahoe though.

I'm looking at either an '01 (212k) that's been well cared for but not upgraded for $3400 (means I can have fun with it), or an '03 (178k) that's been well cared for and upgraded tastefully for $5000. I'm leaning toward the '03, but the seller says one of the rear diff bushings needs to be replaced so it clunks when shifting. The '01 I could make my own, but the '03 has most of what I would want to do already done, and we all know I don't have the time to really work on cars anymore.

Actually, the '03 has 178K. I think you can still knock it down a little and everyone be happy.

Correct on both counts. However I've always wanted one and I kind of have some side employment going on these days. Makes a lot more sense than having a monthly payment on a new car at this point.

Bad news about the '03--that rear diff bushing has been bad for two years and the guy has been driving on it. About 5k miles like that. That doesn't make me feel great about the transmission.
