Who can anser this: do you know of any RWD hatchbacks

Does anyone know of any rear wheel drive hatchbacks or at least rear wheel biased AWD hatchbacks ?

Must be:
Available now or in the past ( used car)

AND available in North America

AND be able to fit a lot of stuff in the back (like a mazda3 HB)

Just curious what You guys come up with.

For example:
BMW M135
Previous Gen Subaru WRX/STI
etc

2007 MZ3 2.L GT Hatchback - stock so far

That's a wagon to me.

Anything current?
None that I know of; definitely not in the US.

RWD hatches are rather rare to begin with, as it kind of ruins the soul "purpose" of a hatchback vehicle, which is why it's so rare.
RWD takes up a lot of space. Hatches, are meant for space, so FWD and space go hand in hand.

For those wondering why it is so rare. That's the real reason.

hmmm...

Well, proof enough "hatch" "back" isn't the same for everyone I suppose.

I only consider a hatchback a shorter wagon vehicle, not sedans with trunks that include a window.

Haha yeah that's true.

I should have read a bit closer.. Not to many rwd hatch backs other then what the 1 series BMW and the old 318's I think.

Might be able to import a Ford Serria Cossworth.

Yeah, this thread will become semantics before much else, at least to me.

The 86, even the "hatch" version isn't much of a hatch, the difference between the hatch and sedan is so very minimal, it's like what I mentioned earlier, it's virtually a sedan with a rear trunk that includes a window. To me... not entirely a hatch, as there isn't technically any increase in space.

The Caddy is definitely a wagon to me.
Which sadly sells poorly.

Everyone says they want a wagon. No one wants to buy them though. Can't really blame Mazda for not bringing theirs here.

While typing this though I just thought of one that to me definitely fits the criteria of being a RWD (RR) and a true square hatchback.

I completely forgot about the clownshoe

A new model as stated previously works just as fine too as I consider those a square hatch as well.

Also... I can't decide if this is a wagon... or a hatch?
I think I would probably consider it a wagon due to the longer wheelbase to height ratio
Also because it isn't a squareback.
