looking for some tips (VTCS????)

Hello all, I have a 2004 Mazda 3 that has been a really good car. It has almost 150k and still going strong. I have tried to post a thread in the powertrain section but it does not seem to work for me urg. Well maybe someone will read this here and be able to help me out, if not I will try it again later in the right section. I have what sounds like a valve knock but is coming from the intake manifold VTCS from what I can research. A new manifold is in the $500 range, but I wonder if there is another thing I should or could do to fix this. It does not really seem to alter the performance it is just annoying at best. Any ideas??????????
