Any other current or former Miata guys here?

I know there's a few members here with Miata projects. I can't figure I'm the only one from the land of the hairdresser cars.

I had a 1996 Miata. It started out as a weekend car, then an autocross car, then moved into track days and road rallies before finally winding up on the wrong side of a Nissan Altima running a stop sign. Unfortunatley, that happened while my wife was pregnant and we were in the process of buying a house, so I had to use the insurance payout to get into a nice little family car, hence how I wound up in a Mazda 3 hatch (the first one).

Who has what? What mods? Are you a serial Miata guy (will always have one) or is it a project for now and you'll move on sooner or later?

2007 Phantom Purple hatch; JBR RMM/busihgs/shifter plate, Koni STR.t's, Michelin Pilot AS3's, Spin on oil filter conversion, stubby antenna, Kenwood KDC-X997 hu + Sundown Audio SA12 + Infinity speakers + JL 320.4 amp, debadged and door edge guards removed, Lamin-X + indy fog mod, aluminum AC knobs, DIY SRI, TRS 5000K HIDs, more coming.

I'm on my fifth Miata. I've had 3 NA's and 2 NB's. Each one has been its own project. Oh, hey Phil!

I'm on my first Miata. '94 base model with A/C installed from the dealer at some point.

Right now, it's just a project. It's the first car I bought on my own. I grew up tinkering with my dad on cars, trucks, and motorcycles (nothing too serious -- just doing our own maintenance, and then some customizing of the motorcycles). I bought it to better understand cars in general, and how they work. My plans are to basically make it a weekend driver as a Shelby Cobra tribute. Not trying to do the funky body kits or paint or anything, but the general styling -- dual-hump roll bar, lowered, mag-type/banana-spoke wheels, minor trim upgrades, wood wheel, etc.

I actually got interested in Miatas when I was looking to build a Locost 7 (still an eventual goal). Then I found out about V8 Miatas. Now I'm just hooked. I'd like to do a V8 swap eventually, as I see V8 Miatas as the ultimate "sleeper" car. I've considered putting the 1.8L in the Locost and the V8 in the Miata, but then I get to thinking that I just want the Locost to be a V8 monster, and... ahhh, but a boy can dream...

That said, I'm enjoying the Miata for what it is -- a poor man's sports car. Haven't done any kind of tracking/autocrossing yet, but I may eventually get there.
