Biggee72 back in a Fusion? Maybe..

So my company will hopefully be giving me the position I originally applied for which means I get a company car. The choices are fusion or escape. Free insurance, maint., fuel, etc. I'm leaning more towards the escape just for the extra room..any reason anyone can think of to go fusion instead? I'm not sure if it's 4 or 6 cyl. I've seen both within my company..

I like the escape its fun, but if I had to choose between the escape and fusion v6 or i4 I would choose the Fusion, I feel better in the Fusion. Just because its lower to the ground, I felt like i was going to tip over if I turned too fast in the escape.

+1 on that. And the ride of the Fusion if you are going to do a lot of traveling is far supperior. It wont be the same for you is you cant mod it... :P
Are you thinking you may see a 2013 Biggee of one or the other?

I doubt it. I'm sure the company buys leftovers and such. I probably wouldn't see the new body style until mid 2013 or so.

Re: Biggee72 back in a Fusion? Maybe..

If you travel a lot the fusion. If short trips under 60-80 miles a day the escape. or swap out the drivers seat in the escape and win-win. 2-3+ hrs in my sisters escape is uncomfortable. Have driven a new fusion for 6+ hrs with no discomfort. expecially if its a new 2013 fusion!!!!

I need you to pm me when you get a chance your family is in cv joint and axle buisness right? I have an odd question about a cv joint.

thanks

No, he does solid RWD axles, not CV's.

Tough choice, though i'd probably got for the escape just because it's bigger and roomier.

Re: Biggee72 back in a Fusion? Maybe..

The current Escape sucks, probably one of the worst CUV's on the market. As for it being roomier, it would be more convenient for stroller storage, etc. However, the actual passenger space won't be any more comfortable than a Fusion. The Fusion will handle better, is safer, etc. ad nauseum.

So unless you need a SUV, get a Fusion. After owning one of the current generation Escapes, I can't really recommend it for any reason at all. Second worst car I've owned other than my Outback.

Re: Biggee72 back in a Fusion? Maybe..

I've driven an (2010?) Escape and it felt so...utilitarian. The seats (leather) were comfy for the first 10 miles. It generally felt like a tank to me. Poor acceleration (compared to a V6 Fusion). Small things for a company car, as you aren't going to be drag racing/taking sharp turns in it, but if I had the choice I would pick a Fusion. It would simply be more fun for me, and I'd be happier at work.
