Apple products: Really?

I'm sorry, I just have to gripe somewhere. My wife expressed interest in an iPad. So, I was thinking with the HD probably coming out next week that I could find a iPad 2 at a descent price on Craigslist. To my amazement, people are posting prices maybe $20 off the original. Others are actually asking MORE than the original cost! Are people so Apple crazy that they buy these? I just don't get it.

Re: Apple products: Really?

iPad 2S or HD or whatever the hell they are calling it (it isn't iPad3) isn't for sale yet, it comes out the 19th I believe.

So don't expect prices to fall off until that date.

iPads are useless lol. Just expressing opinion here, but everyone I know that has one has used it for like maybe an hour per week and for no real reason, everyone else sold theirs.

My mother uses hers, but it took over the use of her laptop completely. She uses it for video skype and email and facebook and looking up recipes but that's about it, which.. actually she uses hers more than anyone else I know. Parents go up to a mountain house every weekend so it makes it easy to take that around compared to a laptop. She's read a book or two on it.

But yeah, as far as pricing goes, it won't really drop down much. $100 usually for the previous version, then like.. a lot for the version before. But you don't want an iPad1 without cameras or anything.

Just keep waiting, they will drop, but it isn't an overnight kinda thing.

And I bet more people will be wanting to buy iPad 2s because they think it will be dropping, so really, people may discover rather quickly they can get a lot more for their used iPad 2 so they can buy an iPad 3 and not lose to much in the swap because so many more people will start buying iPad 2s thinking they are semi affordable.

And yeah, like you said, some people may sell them more than what you can find them at retail prices sometimes. And sometimes people are stupid enough to pay that much lol

[/quote]Yep... dont expect to get a good deal on anything with a half eaten apple on it. Aside from that, I find a lot of people put their used crap up for practically the same price as new (you can get it cheaper new if its on sale). I have no idea how they expect to sell it.

My GF just got an Asus Transformer (with the keyboard attachment... gives you like 18hrs battery life, can be used like a laptop and has usb ports) and after seeing it I have no idea why people would still buy ipads... it looks nicer, can do WAY more, and is actually reasonably priced (we paid 350 CAD brand new)

Plus, if you dont like the included software or if it doesn't do what you want it to do, you can just go get a different app for free...

Re: Apple products: Really?

why bother with an apple product samsungs and alot of new android tablets do the same if not more. (hell the blackberry tablet i got for $200 does more than i would ever use in a tablet. (internet, flash,mp3 with great internal speakers, front and rear cameras, e reader andmore) The android market is almost as plentifull as the applle market. not to mention androids can be cracked to run windows operating system an actually be used as mini computers because they offer expansion ports and mini usb ports unlike apple so you can expand the memory to acutally make them usefull with an external hd. Apple is for sheeple.

Re: Apple products: Really?

Again, this isn't for me. I prefer Android, but the wife is smitten with Apple since she got her iPhone 4s and getting some hands on time with the iPad 2 from someone she works with. I just found it ridiculous that people are this asinine. She'll probably just do without or I'll have to resort to theft. We'll see what happens.

Re: Apple products: Really?

lol!

Push as much time into it as you can; the prices will drop soon, just not this second.

It would be funny if you could 'rent' one out for like a month or so just so she sees how little she probably will use it. I've wanted an iPad before and still have urges to want one, but I know I would _never_ make use of its cost!

Re: Apple products: Really?

You can pick up a refurb direct from apple. A Gen 1 is only $299, while a Gen 2 is $349. They will look like new and come with a warranty:
