"This is a sad day for all of us. All of our military spending, all of our fortresses and moats, and it turns out democracy was attacked from within, the historians will write someday. We didn't even see it coming."

While I personally find this law laughable and totally unnecessary (not to mention a misguided use of legislative time given the plethora of things hanging in the balance), let's not pretend that your local PD is going to knock on your door and turn you over to the military:

Quote:
On p 360, between lines 21 and 22, insert the following:
(e) Nothing in this section shall be construed to affect existing law or authorities, relating to the detention of United States citizens, lawful resident aliens of the United States or any other persons who are captured or arrested in the United States.

i would have to read that section further... i'm not too too concerned about NDAA, since the gov't does that stuff anyways, they don't need a law... i'm particularly bothered by SOPA, tho. i don't see any good in that

i don't think there's any secret...although the faggoty remnants of journalism in the states are doing their best to ignore the continuing loss of freedom and democracy under the current administration (not that this is a partisan problem).
Anyone who says they didn't see it coming is an idiot.

Nice choice of words...

Can someone enlighten me a bit? I might be missing something, but what is wrong with stopping all the online thieves that have been illegally downloading for years causing businesses to go bankrupt?

As for the NDAA, I did a little bit of reading but it all seemed very confusing to me. Basically it states that one (a US citizen) can be detained without trial correct? I'm interested in knowing more, but we don't get much info up here on stuff like this.

I assure you, the members of the RIAA and MPAA, the principal forces against bootlegging, are doing just as well as, if not better than, ever.

I could give two shits if they were the more profitable than the oil companies. Stealing be stealing.

Neither do I, nor do I shed tears for people that get fined or judgments against them for thousands of dollars for doing something they knew was illegal
