One of my favorite artists.

This guy does automotive art...and his paintings are amazing. Very brightly colored and vibrant. They catch the spirit of what motoring is supposed to invoke (IMHO). His name is David Chapple

Here is a link to the site.

and here are a few of my favorite paintings of his.

He's from the detroit area as I know some of you are too...so you may have seen his work locally.

Just thought I would put it up there.

Re: One of my favorite artists.

I don't own any of his prints but I hope to get a couple for christmas. THe perspective doesn't bother me as much as it would for other artists..If he ware claiming to be a photrealist, then it would bother me. I love Dali for his perspective on things as well. I love Van-gogh for his use of color. I love Lichtenstein for his pop art and Warhol for the boldness of his work. I just like the feeling I get when I look at this guy's paintings...it makes me want to get in a classic mustang and drive down PCH.

Re: One of my favorite artists.

I like a lot of stuff....just like my music I have very eclectic tastes. I am a 50's nostalgia nut though..so anything from that era is fun. I like the suburban auto decay photos a well....I'm also a huge fan of signs and advertising.

Hopper was a fantastic realist painter, one of my favorites. His watercolors are also really spectacular and not well known.
