Civil complaint

So my wife and i were walking the dog outside in our townhouse/condo complex. Down the road i see a speeding malibu making a left to our street. The female driving accelerated at a high rate of speed down he wrong side of the street which just missed us ( and would have hit us if we didnt pay attention). Now id like to sign a ticket against her with the police. Question is, am i wasting my time or is there a chance something more will come of this. If she gets a lawyer, then what? I just want the bitch to slow down..this isnt the first time shes done this. Tia.

Re: Civil complaint

You would have to find out who was driving the vehicle. You could assume it was the registered owner but when you take him/her to court they could easily say I wasn't driving the vehicle or a whole array of different excuses. State of New Jersey is picky about this kind of stuff.

Just trying to save you some time and grief, let it go.

BTW, police can do nothing for you. You would have to sign your own complaint in the local courthouse of your jurisdiction.

I mean no hard feelings for what I post on this website. Anything I type/write/post/say on this forum is only that of general debate and discussion. I am not biased toward anyone or anything. I am neutral in everything I do on this website. Only those facts that are presented to me sway my thought process and siding of each discussion topic that I post about.

Is there any pattern as far as the time of day when she does this? In my little town, if you know the approximate time and day of dangerous drivers in residential streets, the PD will post a cruiser on the block once or twice a week.

Re: Civil complaint

Id say. Continue taking your walks as normal. But except with some type of food, or beverage at hand that you can toss at her car but not damage it.
If she continues to do this, chuck that item at the car. If she pulls over thats a good time to get info/call the police. If she doesnt, hopefully shes been discouraged from doing it again.

IMO, do not chuck anything at her car. That is a good way to get yourself in trouble.

Try to get a pattern of the times she drives home and ask the local PD to set up a patrol in that area at the time(s). Maybe you could even videotape her (cell phone) driving excessively fast.. I'm not sure if that would hold up in court though.
