Re: Japan

Very sad to see the destruction and loss of life.

The Pacific NW is overdue for a massive earthquake in the 8 - 9 range, scary stuff. 10 years ago Monday since we had our 6.8.

[/quote]And you'll see some effects of this earthquake within the next few hours.

I feel very lucky that I live on the eastern side of the Rockies.

Nah, Seattle wont feel a thing. Maybe an inch rise in tides in the Puget Sound. 1.1" rise at the coast and with the exception of a couple small towns, they're is nothing or no one out there.

Re: Japan

Yeah, you're right there. Either way, I feel for the people of Japan.

Maui apparently got 7 ft waves.

Re: Japan

Should have gotten a screen shot of it. On a Houston science journalist's blog, someone asked if they should evacuate in Galveston due to risk of tsunami.

Of course, when Ike hit, people as far north as the OK border were asking him if they should board up their windows.

Hawaii had the luxury of ample warning. My buddy in Oahu said everyone ran for the hills.

Re: Japan

Yeah, they had a few hours warning. Still, it's really amazing how this has/ will be felt by everyone neighboring the pacific.
