Remember when (Apple)

Was that goofy computer maker that only artists and the non-computer literate used, but seemed some how kind of cool and hip?

http://www.computerworld.com/s/artic...mazon_s_Kindle

Yeah, now they are just a money grubbing, unethical corporate giant.

Hell, I've never had much to care for MS, but last couple of years Microshaft has been looking a lot more like the socially responsible company and Apple more like the thing you want to scrape off your shoe when you step in it.

I'll grant a company wants to make a profit, but in this case (article above, and others) Apple just seems more and more wanting to hem in both their customers and "suppliers" and doesn't really care about doing what is best for either.

News flash Apple, sometimes you can actually do what is right, and still make a tiddy profit. I bet Scrooge's accounting firm still made plenty of money after Cratchet was paid better and kept the coal stove better supplied...and you didn't have to lose your soul over it either.

PS I am waiting for a news story to break that the iPhone 5 will actually be powered by their customers' souls and made from the tears of babies.

Wow. It would be awesome if Amazon told Steve to go fuck himself and just removed their apps, but they won't.

Re: Remember when (Apple)

They might yet. Amazon has a web version of the kindle reader.

Rhapsody is giving Apple the big F U and also is looking at filing suit.

Honestly, I think they've got a shot on this one. I could see a number of ways that what apple is doing is anti-competitive and also harms consumers. Harms consumers? How you might ask? Enter scenario where Apple tells whomever, they are taking their 30% cut and you HAVE to sell it for cheaper or the same price as through your store (first of all, I think it is shakey legal ground to tell a provider what they have to charge for their service), well to ensure profit margins (or maybe even ensure they make a profit depending on what their margins were before) they jack up the price of their non-App store provided content to allow them to still make a profit through the app store with apple taking 30%.

I don't understand why people whip themselves up in a frenzy of hate.

If there is a product I don't like I don't buy it and move on.

Re: Remember when (Apple)

Amazon should just remove the ability to purchase books in-app. People will have to sync their purchases from a computer, but whatever. Worth the hassle to make a statement.

People already bought the product though, and now the manufacturer is changing the rules on them.

Understood but they accepted their terms and conditions when buying and "accepting their terms and conditions".
