Before the iPhone and Android devices, when we had "dumbphones" a.k.a. "feature phones," what were you favorites? Which ones were you happy to get rid of?
Sony Ericsson T616:
compact for its time, very nicely styled, killer Bluetooth
Sony Ericsson K790a:
(still have this one) everything I liked about the T616, only better; still the best camera I've ever had in a phone; 007 rocked the international version, the K800i, in "Casino Royale"
Sony Ericsson W810i:
like the T616 and all its goodness, all grown up; good camera (2 MP, a lot for the time, and auto-focus); unstable firmware; Walkman feature unstable when playing AAC files
interesting styling; built like a tank (steel body); incredible reception and call quality; UI clunky and slow, worked and looked like Windows 3.1; display was too small for the resolution
reception and call quality were awesome; frequent white screens of death; crippled Bluetooth that refused to work right (if at all); lots of cross talk... I must've exchanged that POS 5 times in my first month with Cingular
Sony Ericsson S710a
: cool swivel design and breakthrough camera marred by the slowest UI on Earth
... too slow to capture a decent picture in time
FYI, I've been on AT&T > Cingular > AT&T for 10 years now. I was a new phone addict, buying new unlocked phones almost every year. If I bought one with a contract, I would get it unlocked and debranded ASAP. I've had a lot of phones, but these stand out, for good or for bad.
