Inception. Discuss.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!INCEPTION PLOT DETAILS WILL BE DISCUSSED BELOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got back from seeing Inception and my mind was blown. Amazing, deeply layered film that it's hard to stop thinking about. The entire thing was riveting and it didn't feel anywhere near it's actual length.

After I got home my friend sent me a question I found interesting. I have my own answer but though it might be interesting to see what others think.

Quote:
It's stated that in order for inception to work, you have to go 3 levels deep. How did Cobb and Mal get 3 levels deep between the 2 of them if it requires a different person to dream each level?
The question is also posted on this site.

If you have other questions about the plot, post them up. Discuss.

Oof, I think I need to see it again to discuss that one.

But I'm pretty certain at the end he's still in limbo.

Re: Inception. Discuss.

fist off it was an awesome movie, 2nd off to awnser that question they enter their own dream with in a dream. I loved the ending lol good cliff hanger, though towards the end of the movie it was kinda easy to figure out what was coming next... I thought the grandpa was going to stop the top from spinning though.

My answer to that question was

Quote:
I'm not sure it was a hard and fast rule that inception requires 3 levels deep. It was discussed how Cobb explored Mal's psyche and found her secrets which allowed him to plant the idea, it didn't really specify that he went to another dream level to do that. I'm guessing that because they were so close another level was not required, whereas with a largely unknown 3rd party another level of separation is required to really sell them on the concept that the idea was theirs.
Just a guess. I'm on the fence about whether he's in limbo at the end or not, but I loved how the top wobbled just a tiny bit right before the final cut. Perfect ending.

Re: Inception. Discuss.

The ending was fantastic. The whole theater went "aww!" lol.

I'm not sure. Cobb got stuck with Mal after they were three levels deep correct? So if they were stuck in limbo three levels in, I think it would be feasible. Particularly because limbo is separate from the dream itself.

Heh, never saw that movie nor realized it was him. He is a really good actor though. I loved that Handsome Bob was in it too

Re: Inception. Discuss.

I'm trying to think which guy was the angels in the outfield kid, i didn't recognize him, oh and am I the only one who found the part where the guy was like "here kiss me real quick" then the girl goes, "their still looking at us" guy goes " yeah
i know it was worth a shot" part hilarious, oh and the part with the "don't be afraid to dream a little bigger" pulls out a grenade launcher part... that's was funny too..
