Epic 10 hours and counting Wimbledon tennis match

I know the world cup is happening and all, but this just ridiculous.

John Isner vs Nicholas Mahut

10 hours and going...

They're so damn tired, most of the points are won by flatout aces. And to be honest, given how exhausting this match has been, the tennis's been surprisingly clean!

I've been in some 3hours matches and towards the end, it's so exhausting because you're so damn close! But the other guy just wont let up... Just waiting for the tiniest opportunity to crack your opponent.

And I don't think there is a winner in this match, I highly doubt the winner will recover enough for the next match.

I'm surprised those guys can even stand at this point.

Hahaha, now they're just suffering. The makes it over the net, and most of the time, there's no play on it by either guys.

Yeah this shit is just crazy. I wonder if one will give up before it gets dark again.

Actually if you play a lot of tennis, your body gets used to the repetitive lateral movements and whatnot. So on court, it doesn't take away that much energy. Just like how a basketball player can take hundreds of jump shots prior to a competitive game.

But this is of course an extreme case. Isner is just a giant fly swatter now. If the ball is within walking distance, he'll walk over and takes a crack at it. They're just going for broke now.

When I got myself into those 3hours marathon matches, it just comes down to will. In sports, after a certain point you just throw talent, strategy, power, and speed out the window. It just comes down to heart and will.

I bet the chair umpire is thinking to himself: "55 ... all? (WTF I wanna go home! Wimbledon better pay me overtime for being part of history)"

I'm going to give it up for Isner. For being 6"9" and still in this match.

Isner looks way more tired/disinterested to me. But he's winning points on Frenchie's serve!

Re: Epic 8 hours and counting Wimbledon tennis match

10 hours later, the match is stopped and will continue on its 3rd day, due to darkness. I think it's fair to have golf carts and drive these two players out...

I dont know what's more amazing, Isner and his massive 6'9" frame with this kind of endurance. Or Mahut having to constantly serve to stay in the match.

I think that's understandable/forgivable after 10hours of play... Hell Marat Safin looked like that after the 1st game.
