Re: Las Vegas: 21st birthday
I go to Vegas 4-5 times a year.
The hotels I stay at are:
Caesar's Palace - a lot to do within the property. If you pay the discount rate, though, you'll end up with craptacular old rooms. Happened to me the last two times.
Treasure Island or Mirage - great location, very cheap (relative to Caesars or Venetian) and right across the street from Venetian and next door to Caesars.
Venetian - pricey, but even the cheapest room on the property is still a swanky suite.
I find the other end of the strip (NYNY, MGM, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, etc.) to be very boring. Nothing really to do down there.
The car museum is in Imperial Palace (do not, I repeat, do not actually stay there). My only recommendation of things NOT to do is be sucked in the budget hotels because they're cheap. It's not worth saving $100-200 to rent a room in a property that you won't want to spend any time in. In other words, avoid Tropicana, Riviera, Stratosphere, Circus Circus, Hooters and Imperial Palace.
