Speeding in TN.

A bill has passed in Tennessee (not law yet) that makes it a minimum $500.00 fine if caught speeding at 25mph above posted limit. "They" say the increase is needed to make up for shortfalls in TN. Highway Patrol issued tickets (which is down from last year). If you plan to travel in TN. - better watch your speed. Anyone else's state have big fines for speeding?

25 mph over? So what? Not a hard threshold to avoid.

State initials do not require a period.

big deal. in VA 20 over or 80mph is considered reckless driving. also failure to use turn signals is reckless.

Re: Speeding in TN.

That's the point in TN......no troopers are writing tickets. Rode behind one today on I24 east bound for about 30 miles. 80-87 mph all the way.

Re: Speeding in TN.

Here I go being an asshole again... I'd make it even tougher and say 25 over on the interstate gets a fine AND suspension. If you're doing 25 over the speed limit you're either not paying attention, or just don't GARA.

Re: Speeding in TN.

20 over here is a mandatory court appearance.

But honestly, speeding tickets here are a joke. For $100, you can get pretty much every speeding ticket reduced down to a parking ticket and take no points on your license. Hell, when I got busted for 120 in a 60, I only paid a $224 fine and took 1 point on my license versus the standard 2 points. Which wasn't bad at all, considering the prosecuting attorney wanted to lock my ass up for 30 days and take away my license for 120 days.

Yay lawyers. As long as you show them the money, your ass can get out of anything.

A revolution gets its name by always coming back around in your face.
