whats the worst injury you have suffered?

mine happened in November of 2001. I worked in a factory making custom cabinet doors, I ran a ripping saw. in typical factory fashion, the guards were removed on most of the saws because the guards slowed the work down. I was walking back to my saw after pushing a table of wood to the next station when I tripped over a floor mat that should not have been where it was. on instinct I went to catch myself and my right hand went into the saw, cut the tips of two fingers off, and being that it was a ripping saw, it wasn't a "smooth" cut so the tips were unable to be re-attached and my index fingers second knuckle was shattered. Im missing about a half inch on my index finger and about a quarter inch on my middle finger (more at an angle tho), so its not that apparent, but it does still bother me when I'm out in public. I tend to keep my right hand in a fist, holding my keys, or in my pocket.

Re: whats the worst injury you have suffered?

I got rear ended when I was 16 in my mom's mint '78 malibu. The lady didn't have insurance and took her kids car without permission.... ANYWAY, the drivers window broke and a shard of glass went into my arm, on the underside, just above my elbow. You can hardly see the scar now, but OMG, so much blood. I screwed up my back BAD in that accident. Stupid fn woman.

And I hit my head on the steering wheel, and my eyebrow above my right eye just kinda tapers off... into nothing. I think I killed some hair follicles... not really an injury, I just see it all the time and it bothers me.

^ Sounds pretty painful! Your lucky it wasn't worse, coulda lost a lot more than the tips of your fingers.
Mine was in kindergarten we were playin tag in gym and I tried over someone and slid into the corner of the brick wall (where the doorway is) ended up getting 14 stitches above my right eye. The scar goes into my eyebrow and you can still see it today... I still get asked about it once in a while

A Broken Heart...LOL

Nah the worst one which wasn't really that bad...( I've been lucky i guess) Was when i sneezed and there was someone in front of me so i turned to my left. Little did i know there was a freezer there when i sneezed (the biggest sneeze evarrr!) and my head flew forward and i hit the corner of the freezer cut the side of my eye open. Only 8 100 stitches. HEH. not as impressive as those, but thats a good thing i guess lol.

Re: whats the worst injury you have suffered?

Two torn rotator cuff, one torn posterior labrum = Two surgeries and it's as good as normal. Surgery itself wasn't too bad, but my god, it was the rehab that took so much out of me!

Threw out my back twice (back spasms), definitely most debilitating injury ever. With your back locked up, it's just extremely difficult/painful to move. Once when I was playing tennis, took a wrong step and my back just froze. Second time when I had a flu, and coughed too hard. Yes I'm serious, I had back spasms because I coughed too hard. Apparently, it happens more often than one would imagine.

Wow all your injuries sound painful. ouch.

Mine was probably when I was 7. I was riding my bike down at my beach house next to my friend who was rollerblading. I was weaving all over the road, hit some sand and fell down... on my face. I broke my cheek bone and knocked my 2 front teeth super loose (they were hanging by a thread, literally). it was Apr 1st and a lot of the medical places at the beach don't open until summer, so I was being driven around Delaware trying to find a dentist that was open and a hospital. The closest hospital is 45 minutes away. LOL! So yeah, got rushed to the dentist, he said he couldn't do anything and we went to the hospital. the wired my top teeth all together and my mouth shut. i also got 2 stitches inside my upper lip (I guess I bit it when hitting the pavement). A couple of days later was Easter and it sucked. no candy for me... just Slimfast and applesauce.

Moral of the story: use your hands to break your fall, not your face.

another injury I had was during my first few years of gymnastics. i think i was 10 or 11. was on bars, doing my routine and swung off the bottom bar and went to grab the top bar, but wasn't angled right and broke all of my fingers. that was pretty painful.

and of course, when I broke my knee senior year of hs during triple jump... and when i broke it again sledding. hooray for torn ligaments, broken patellas and painkillers.

Re: whats the worst injury you have suffered?

Never had anything all that serious.

Herniated a disk in my lower back. Took 15 months to heal up mostly completely. Still have some loss of range of motion because of it.

First couple of months the pain was so bad after sitting for more than about 15 minutes it would make me dizzy. Actually made me puke a couple of times from pain. Ibuprofin 4 at a time, 4 times a day is all that got me through the first couple of months.

Sucked bad too, it was litterally the night I got home from my honeymoon. Even after the first 2 months I had sciatic nerve pain for about the next full year before that pretty much went away.

Blew a disk again a couple of weeks ago. Healing much faster, though the damage was a lot less. First time I litterally could get out of bed without screaming and crying in pain for the first 24hrs (gotta piss at least a couple of times). This time around It was just very painful to stand up or lean over. All better now, just some sciatic nerve pain that is getting better day by day and a little more loss of range of motion that is also improving.

Sucks to be having this happen at age 26 (first blew it at 23).

LOL I'm sorry, but a BROKEN knee?! ahahahaahahaha

Tendons, ligaments, muscles can all be torn/shredded/strained/sprained. Bones can be broken/shattered/fragmented. But you can't BREAK a joint. hahahaahah
