Motorcycle Insurance

Muwahahaha....... the CBR600 is out of the garage and ripping around town in the afternoons when it's warm enough to ride.

Anyways...... just wondering what people are paying for insurance. We just had a 30% increase where I am. I'm paying $119/month now for my 2003 CBR600RR. It officially costs more than the car.

Like I said before... I'm not sure if I want to be a rider. If I ever do decide to do it, I will be starting small! lol

Re: Motorcycle Insurance

geez! how old are you?! and what insurance do you have?

my dad pays $50 a year for his motorcycle insurance... and he races them on the track and shit. just crazy that you're paying $119 a month! unless... you're really young and this is your first bike.

Re: Motorcycle Insurance

$50 a year must be liability only.....

Liability on bikes doesn't seem that bad since they don't cause much damage to other vehicles, LOL.

You might be right Fatty... I forget exactly what my dad has. I'll ask him again!

This is my 2nd bike. I started out last season on an 07 CBR125..... that one was only $33/month or so. This year it's around $40/month.

I'm 25 with a mostly clean driving record. Last at fault claim I had was 5 years ago and is no longer haunting me. That price is with a 4% discount for safe driving. In the lovely province of Saskatchewan there is only one insurance company, and is owned by the government. The $119/month is for comprehensive..... it comes with a $700 deductible. I pay an additional $120/year to lower it to a $200 deductible.

How is your dad only paying $50/year???

Cause my dad is awesome? lol. jk... I just tried calling him to ask him how it's so cheap, but he didn't answer! But as soon as he calls me back, I'll be sure to post the answer!!

also... you have good taste in bikes! my dad has 2. 1 CBR1000 (for street) and 1 CBR600 (for racing). He loves it!!

lol if he's getting $50/year that is pretty awesome. If there's some awesome insurance place like that it's tempting to see if they offer something in Canada as well. I'm so sick of SGI and their crown corporation make good drivers pay for bad drivers ways.

Thanks! Back at ya. I can't believe he has a CBR1000 for the street. That's just insane. I could see why he'd take the 600 over the 1000 for racing though.... probably corners a lot better I would think.

How come you're not riding? You should pick up a 125 to start.... and move on to a 600 after. 125s are dirt cheap!

Re: Motorcycle Insurance

Yea my dad took his 1000 on the track 2 years ago.... and he crashed it. he had to rebuild the whole front and got all new plastics. it was insane. the 600 is MUCH better on the track for turns... but not so much on the straight parts. lol he gets passed there a lot... but once in a while he passes people!

I'm not riding because I'd rather be the passenger. lol. I don't think I could handle it to be honest. I just admire them from afar and go to track sessions with my dad. that's good enough for me!! There is a new track in New Jersey (New Jersey Motorsports Park) and I got to ride with the owner during a beginnger and advanced group... HOLY SHIT. It was seriously intense. I couldn't even imagine doing that myself. lol.

I have a quad that I barely use.... don't think I'll ever get a motorcycle.
