A question about ordering

Just got this question in my head, it is not just for Mazda, rather for any car brands. Let's say if today's APR promotion on a car I want to buy is 3.9%, but the dealer does not have the car configuration on its lot and it cannot find one also. If I decide to order the car from the manufacturer and wait 3 months to get it, and at that time the new APR promotion is 0%, then which APR I will get on my loan? 3.9% or 0%?

Thx

Re: A question about ordering

You usually get whatever incentives are available on the date of delivery.

Re: A question about ordering

Fatta is correct. I just ordered a GMC Terrain. I've not locked in any interest rate as of yet. I own a toyota which qualifies me for 0% if I take delivery by 3/31. Since the car probably wont be here by then I won't get the 0% unless they extend it.

Re: A question about ordering

Do you have the opportunity to lock in today's APR or the way it works is you have to gamble on the rate in 3 months? What can a buyer do if the rate goes unfavorably?

I guess you either have to pay cash or do not take the car?

Re: A question about ordering

I'd lose my deposit, which is $1000. I can't lock in, but I'm not worried. My credit score is 720ish and my wife is over 800. I'd imagine we'll be fine w/ that. As for someone not in my situation, you'd have to take a gamble. The only way you can lock in is if you take a car they have in stock.

Re: A question about ordering

actually I am thinking about buying a GTI this year. I checked with some local VW dealers and they all do not have the specifically car I am looking for. a salesman told me there is no way to locate one in the whole country and the only way to get the car confirgured as I wanted is ordering from Germany.

I have a more than 750 credit score, so I think if VW offers 0% at the time the car delievered, I should be able to get it. so if I see a APR of 0% today and order it but after 3 months the APR jumps to 4.9%, I will be really mad...

Re: A question about ordering

That's possible. To the best of my knowledge that's your only option. I love the GTI..if it could haul my wife, myself, baby, and dog comfortably, I'd want one too.
