Re-painting Question

Hey my dad's Nissan Rogue got side swiped and the damage is on one of the doors only. However, the body shop says that both doors need to be repainted for it to look good. My question is, is repainting both doors really necessary? It's a 2010 Rogue so the paint is virtually new. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks for any input.

If they actually know what they are doing, you should only need the one door repainted. That sounds shady as fuck.

Re: Re-painting Question

not necessarily. depends on the color and how much they need to blend it in.

Re: Re-painting Question

its because in the case that the paint is a tiny bit differently shaded, one door will be a different color than the other door. they paint both doors so that they can somewhat match.

Re: Re-painting Question

who cares if someone elses insurance is paying for it. My car has been damaged on all sides but the front by other people and its always been color blended with the other panels.... I never paid so I just want them to do everything to make it look good.

Re: Re-painting Question

if there's absolutely no damage to the other door panel, i would request that it not be repainted, or ask the body shop why it needs to be repainted. but i personally knew a body shop guy and he wouldnt lie to us, some people can spot that the color is different and so the shop paints both doors so they match exactly, even though there's like a negligible difference in shade.
