12k budget, "fast" and reliable car... lol

My buddy keeps breaking his TDI jetta, and is in the market for a different, "fast" car, I assume he wants a manual, and he is eying up a supercharged Cobalt SS, his limit is around 12,000 US dollars from what I remember... I told him that a 350z might be an option, but he wouldnt have a winter car then.

He is VERY rough on cars (3 clutches in less than 4 years on his S-10 :shock, so something with a tough reputation would be good.

Any suggestions?

Where the hell are you going to get a 350z with acceptable mileage for that little money?

Might as well just get a truck with an Allison transmission so it won't break. He can't drive for shit if he gone through that many clutches in that little time frame or tell his dumb ass to stop doing stupid shit.

haha, we all tell him that he can't drive, he took out 3 ATX's too in some other car he had, kid just loves to neutral bomb and dump the clutch or something... I'm scared to give him access to anything over the power of the TDI he has

Re: 12k budget, "fast" and reliable car... lol

How old is this kid is my first ?? Second, I know exactly the kind of person your talking about cause a past buddy of mine is the same exact way. He thinks it makes him look like a bad ass mucho man or something. Funny story... one nite me and him were on our way to the atm for him to make a deposit. Well it had been snowing and stuff and his dumbass self thought he could go 50 mph in the parking lot and then make a dead stop at the machine. Needless to say that once we got to where all the teller machines where, he tried slowing down by mashing the brake pedal (he had a really shitty car too). Next thing I know it, Im watching as the teller keeps coming closer and closer and closer...tilllll WHHAMMM!! The idiot hit it... backed up and continued on with his business! I just kinda looked at him... like really? Did that just happen? LOL. But yeah this guy definitely doesnt need anything with power cause he'll prolly kill himself or someone else. Thankfully you cant really buy anything too fast with 12k so... good luck.

Re: 12k budget, "fast" and reliable car... lol

does he want to build it or just leave it like it is?
build: 240 with 2jz (even the KA is a good base)
bought: S2k
built+bought: 300zx (the car would go for about 8000K in great condition, and if he just spend 2k he is in the 400 kitted bolt ons)
