Why do people complain just to complain?

I really think some people just like to complain to complain. Got a comment in from a user who A) thinks we need to update our application to be in the new century (because it doesn't follow this user's standards) B) thinks it doesn't follow standard internet layouts (because the continue button is on the right and previous on the left) C) wants to be able to use the browser back button, not the 'on page' previous button D) wants a logout button on every screen of the application.

I'd love to be able to give them a snarky reply

"Dear to whom it may concern,

There is a logout button on the top right of every single page of the application, everyone. Its size 12 font (fixed) and highlighted. I apoligize for its profuseness and attention drawing red text for escaping your notice. The reason we don't allow the use of the back button is because there is a chance we'd lose your session information forcing you to exit our application and renter it. We explained this in the warning message we provided to you when you attempted to use your back button. If your really set on using it, go ahead, its only a warning. We had assumed possibly losing your session information and having to logout and back in would cause you greater inconvenience then clicking on a different part of your screen to move backwards in our application. We shall change it immediately. As for the location of the continue button, we shall post haste relocate it to follow a non-existant standard.

I hope this finds you in good health emailing your bank that you dislike the fact that you account number isn't showing up in blue text or isn't spaced far enough over on the screen."

Seriously, I haven't seen a 'major' flaw or hold up pointed out. The entire tone of the persons email was "whiney, I don't have enough to do in life so I want to gripe about things that are so minor no one would probably even spend half a second of their life complaining about it"

Re: Why do people complain just to complain?

The honest answer is, people complain because their life is worse than everyone else's. I've been there a time or two in my 25 years of existence, and when I felt my life was subpar, I felt myself complaining a lot more.

Had a girl tell me recently, she hopes I live a miserable and lonely life, because I wasn't interested in her. Come to find out, when hearing her talk she actually hopes she doesn't live a lonely and miserable life. I would never tell someone that, even if I meant it.

as far as complaining about products goes

our clients hire consultants all the time and even if a prodcut is 100% perfect...they will find something to complain about....why? because if they didnt find something wrong they arent a good consultant right?

There's a difference between complaining and actually discussing something that improves the product. Nit picking just nit pick is stupid.

Re: Why do people complain just to complain?

Because people like to be surrounded. They want to hear there's some good that can come out of their situation, may they be serious or insignificant events. People also love to be taken care of like puppy dogs.

Just take a look at the annoying facebook status updates or twitter. Half of them are people complaining about something. "OH it's raining." "I'm bored at home." "Today was a bad day" and various other insignificant updates. Then a floodgate of people comment and comfort them.

What annoys me the most are my 20 something year old friends complaining about doing homework in the middle of the night instead of partying.
1) Stop complaining about something you should have done a long time ago
2) Stop complaining about not being able to party, probably because it's the reason why your 20something year old ass is still in school (undergrad)
3) No one cares you have to do homework, people just do it and move on with their lives.
4) Puppy dog love is unattractive.
