Contact lens users, who's been burned by Clear & Care solution?!

First time using this solution, didnt read the instructions, thought it was just like another other contact solution. Put one lens in my eye and HOLY SHIT!

I didnt know it has hydrogen peroxide in the solution, and I didnt know the little container they supply has a metal disk that will neutralize the hydrogen peroxide in 6hours.

So basically, I have some hydrogen peroxide in my left eye. It still burns a little after half a day, and 10+minutes of rinsing.

Who else got burned by this solution?

I have glasses too, but I prefer the all around clarity of contacts. I'd be too afraid of laser. i don't like the idea of a scalpel on my eye, not to mention how much it costs! I could buy F2's supercharger kit cheaper than that!

There is a new process out now where they implant a corrective lens between the lens and the cornea. It's called an Intraocular lens I think. It's reversible and can be switched out if vision changes and the vision quality is supposed to be better than Lasik. I looked in to having it done and it was like $4000 an eye. Let's just say I am waiting for the price to come down a tad.

My ex put that peroxide stuff in his eye once - he was borrowing a friend's contact solution and didn't read the label before using it.  He had to go to the hospital his eye was so bad.  ...probably didn't help that he had his contact soaking on a spoon, either...

My vision has finally stabilized after a few years so I've been considering Lasik, but I just can't justify the cost yet

Reading up on them the results were no better then lasik and had a higher rate of dry eye and also halos in contrasty light compared to lasik. So if they perfect it and if the price comes down I might consider it. Since I can get Lasik for about $4k for both eyes I'll stick with that option for now.

custom wavefront ftw. i had lasik almost 4 weeks ago and i can see better than i ever did with glasses. my eyes could not tolerate contacts so that wasn't an option....

I have, but only because I didn't let it soak in the container long enough to finish the reaction. Apparently 4-5 hours isn't enough. Longer than 6 hours is better if you want to be safe. A few days afterwards, my eye got very red and irritated (felt like a scratched cornea), went in for a checkup and got prescribed Tobramycin. Cleared up in a day or two.

I use that solution, but I have never been burned by it. Kinda scary, I thought the warning was BS
