Engagement Photos

Hey everyone, Andreas and I are going to be going into full wedding planning mode after the holidays and I was trying to come up with some good places to take engagement photos. We will be getting our photographer picked out soon and most offer free engagement photos when you sign the contract for them to take the photos at the wedding. So here are some of my ideas:

1. Have a water backdrop with our cars angled towards eachother, me in front of my car, him in front of his on his knees proposing. I would love to incorporate the cars into at least one or two pictures. We both have a passion for cars, especially ours so this is something I think would be rather interesting to show off something we connect with.

2. Seeing how the beach is practically my backyard a beach shoot is very important, that is my passion and its just beautiful.

3. Thats where im stuck....we have plenty of places we love that are great memories but not photo worthy. What are some of your ideas of good places to take photos for engagement?

Our wedding pictures will be on a golf course because we are going to have a club house for our reception, its a gorgeous course too.

I know this is a weird place to ask a question like this but I am asking a forum with primarily men because I like to see your ideas from a guys point of view. Plus the girls on the forum have mostly the same taste as me so I know any of your suggestions will work great to my own personality as well as his. Thanks guys ahead of time!

Feel free to post pictures of your engagement photos if you have any! I would love to see them

Personally I think the car idea is a bad idea. You would probably look back at the pictures 20 years later and wonder why you took pictures with your cars when you could have done a more romantic shoot on a beach.

I vote a beach photo shoot without the cars.

I disagree with previous poster. If cars is one way you connect, then I think it'd be a cute and memorable picture vs a boring old beach photo. It gives it an interesting aspect. I would say do some traditional shots as well, but pictures with some background are usually more interesting than just people photos.

+1
its the fun memory photos that are fun, the nice traditional ones are more just for hanging in the hallway that everyone walks through but no one looks at the photos.

Re: Engagement Photos

Thank you everyone, thats why I wanted your opinion, the car photo would be purely out of fun only. I have a great spot that is on the way to the beach so it wouldnt make the photographer go out of the way at all. So all the traditional photos will be taken =)

We just bonded over cars, thanks to Andreas I got my mazda because he cosigned in after only dating for 5 months, it showed me trust and love from him after dating a short time. That and we both gave a little bit towards eachothers cars (gift wise) so it may just be a standard mazda3 and a lightly modded GTI but it still is something we grew a relationship around.

To get really corny we could go dealership to dealership and take pictures there, since we had no place to go at night while dating we used to walk around every dealership in the area to talk about cars and look at them. We still do it to this day, going to dealerships at night to just admire the cars and look at the all new ones. Again we truly did bond over cars, silly maybe, romantic not to everyone but to me its something we loved and still love to do together =)
