HDTV issues

I've got this 27" Westinghouse HDTv that's been giving me trouble. I'm having some screen issues for months now and I don't know what it means or how to fix it. Obviously, the warranty has expired, so I'm trying to figure out what I can do to fix it. This is actually the replacement TV they sent me after the first one zonked out a couple years ago. I also sent them an e-mail on the matter.

It's hard to describe what the issue is, so please see the file here where I show you what it looks like as I go through the different inputs and try to open the TV menu screen:

Any advice?

Re: HDTV issues

looks like an issue with the control board or something

i have a 19" magnavox that would randomly restart and make squeeling noises. i dug around on the internet and was able to find a new power board from a manufacturer and replace it and that solved the problem.

best bet would be to try something similar. i believe the board cost me like $20. with most LCD TV's there like 3 boards inside. 1 is the main power board, 2 is the video board, and 3 is the inverter board. my guess would be it's either 1 or 2. i would start with #2. could also try googling for your model number and the issue to see if/how others have fixed it

Re: HDTV issues

So, you actually replaced the power board yourself?

Re: HDTV issues

yeah. its not too difficult. if you build your own computers or anything like that you can do it. just be careful when opening it so as not to damage the screen or the case. swapping the boards was just a matter of opening the case, unscrewing the board, unplugging the 2-3 cables, then repeating in reverse order. also make sure its unplugged... the inverter board is high voltage.
