God must hate me... or does he?

I'm embarrassed, depressed, sad, mad, etc etc.

Let me start from the beginning... Everything was going fine a few months ago (as I thought) - until I received a parking ticket. Time went on and eventually forgot about the parking ticket. I'm sure you know what that means - late fees and court dates. The fees and court dates pass by (some how missed the blue letter in the mail). Then I received a letter that I had a warrant out for my arrest, which I saw in the mail - big red flag. Also, my license was suspended. SO, I went to the courthouse to fill out a defendant form to remove the warrant and just pay any late fees along with the tickets. Ended up paying $500 for the warrant, $70 to reinstate my license, $300+ for the tickets. The list goes on. While all of this mess was going on I've missed my car, insurance, and phone payments. License got suspended AGAIN after a couple weeks apparently because there were more late fees that were looked over by the courthouse representative. Not really my fault, I know... So I was driving home from the courthouse after paying more late fees etc etc (while my license was suspended). It's dark out (about 6:30pm). I'm driving as careful as possible. I notice a car behind me and instantly recognize that it's a police officer. He was on my tail, so I put my blinker on and switched lanes. He then instantly merged to my lane. What do you know? Yep... Pulls me over (with no license). Knowing that my car can soon be repo'd and my insurance is canceled - I tell him I left me insurance with my registration at home because I was dealing with this whole situation. So I asked why I was pulled over... You know what he said? YEP! MY %$#@ing LICENSE PLATE LIGHT WAS OUT! issed: So here I am with two license suspensions that I'm dealing with and paying $500+ for my attorney to go to court for me and handle the case. This all seems like it happened so fast! Paying all these court fees, costs, tickets, etc etc.. has set me back so far that I didn't even realize it! The bank decides they want to repossess my car because of late payment (either that or they request $1000 by today - No way that's happening). On top of everything - my business as a vendor here has been not so good lately - I'm sure you can see why. Since my customer service and shipping times have been not so good, I've had potential customers turn to other options.

Right now I've dealt with:
- Repo'd car
- Lost insurance
- High phone bill
- Court costs
- Attorney costs
- Tumbling business

Now, what I'm posting here is for advice... Advice to help save my business here and my sponsorship here on Mazda3Forums. I've been on here since 2005 with you guys and would hate to see me banned for a situation that I cannot control. I don't want to sit here and give excuse after excuse. That's what it seems like it has been because just so many things have been happening to me lately.

Where I'm at now:
- No more car payments
- Paying off credit card
- Paying phone bill
- Getting outstanding customers emblems shipped for my business

I think I'm on a good track now since I don't have my car or insurance anymore that I do not have to pay for. The only expense I have at the moment is attorney costs and phone bill. However, my phone bill is high for missing the payments on those too. Anyway, I'm paying the attorney, paying off my credit card.

Any advice or help would be highly appreciated as I'm trying my best to get the business back on the road with good rep. Thanks in advanced to whoever has any helpful information.

Best Regards,
Corey

Re: God must hate me... or does he?

honestly as far as your business goes...you just need to slow down...it looks like when you first started you got overwhelmed and got behind...that is what made people upset...now i think you have taken a step in the right direction of ording badges yourself and prepainting them to cut down wait times...but regardless...my advice would be to take care of any outstanding clients (ones that have been waiting 4 months +) before getting in over your head again....also...make sure your quaility is top notch...i was a dissapointed with my emblems...but im glad they are getting fixed so quickly....focus on quality because right now that is all you have going for you as speed is low (and i know that a lot of that you cant control due to the stripping process)...you arent a bad guy and i dont think people here dislike you or anything people just got tired of waiting because he had so much going on....just take it slow...build up a stock...and provide a quality product...simple as that...sry to hear about all the other stuff...major suckage...but you learn from that stuff and i bet it you wont let it happen again

As a third-party with no vested interest, I will offer some advice. Nothing you mentioned was out of your control. First, take care of legal business. It's nobody's fault but your own that a parking ticket ended up costing you a grand.

Second, when you're already so far behind on work, DO NOT accept new orders. Since the majority of your post was regarding money issues, I presume that you were basically running a big pyramid scheme where new customers were paying your bills while you barely touched your older customer's orders.

I guess my only advice to you is to man up. This legal issue has NOTHING to do with your business here and should not have interfered in the slightest. The fact that you're trying to use it as an excuse is a little childish.

I agree....I think you should take care of existing orders for now and get caught up, do what you can do to steady yourself starting with the highest interest payments first. If you have a cell phone and a landline get rid of one for now.

Re: God must hate me... or does he?

Fatabbot came off as harsh, but it's true. No matter how bad your personal life is, it should never EVER affect how your business is ran. When people pay money for a product, they are not concerned of your relationship problems, job woes, or other distractions. People see it as they paid money for essentially a product or service. They pay full price up front and expect full satisfaction when the product or service is finished. It's impossible to have 100% customer satisfaction; however, 1 bad customer complaint will overshadow 10 satisfied customers.

You will need to find a way to balance everything that you're doing. If you don't need to represent yourself in court, than have someone pay your court fees for you. You just give them the money and maybe they can pay it for you. Maybe you could hire some part time help to catch up on your badges. It's difficult to keep everything afloat at times, but when you're running a business; the customer is 100% right everytime.

What has happened on this forum and a kawasaki forum I'm on; is too many people have came in as forum vendors and ran into personal problems. There's a guy that does bike vinyl on my kawi forum and he ran into personal problems that greatly affected his customer service. In the end all the good work he did prior was overshadowed by threads being created to say not to buy from him. Forum's add new people so quickly that any type of bad rep can get spread to the newbs overnight and your business takes a big hit.

You NEED to do what it takes to keep your business going on this forum, if it's what's bringing in good money for yourself.

LMFAO "oh i thought i didn't need that" i bet in your head you were like "go kick your mom in the ass for me when you get home " 08mazda2.0

Re: God must hate me... or does he?

When I was having a lot of problem back in the day a friend of mine simply told me to just take one thing at a time! Cause your stress yourself out if you try and tackle everything at once. Stuff happens!! Things will get better! They might get worse before they get better but they will get better nonetheless! Deal with things as they are presented to you! For right now.. deal with your business! Then when you gotta deal with the legal stuff.. deal with that! Its all about baby steps really! I know you want everything to go back to how it was! But really.. honestly! It prolly never will go back to exactly like it was. Cause the more and more you stress out about things the more and more things will continue to fold! Hope this helps and my words of advice!

Re: God must hate me... or does he?

My personal adivice is this, if you REALLY want to get your business back up and running (as well as the trust from the forum members again)

1- no more BS dates to the clients who have been awaiting their emblems a long time, seriously, its not that hard.

2- NO MORE NEW ORDERS UNTIL THIS IS DEALT WITH!!!!

3- the first few customers will be skeptical, shit, there is an entire thread dating back over a year saying not to buy from you, most people get the point already. so how do you overcome this? reduce your price significantly for the 1st few customers you get and PROVE you can do a quality job in a reasonablly paced (and accurate) time frame.

4- after youve done this a few times and re-earned the respect of this community again, let bygones be bygones, it happened it happened, however, if it happens again... then i honestly do believe this isnt working for you..

5- Check on your emblem threads atleast once a day. it really isnt that difficult to take 5 mins to check your thread when you get home at night.

if any one of these four steps fails, then this isnt for you man. youll have to find another way to make some cash.

Further inspection reveals that your hyundai genesis plan didnt work either. you pretty much abandoned the 3 community in order to "start fresh" on other forums (by this i mean you didnt even log on for months at a time). it got so bad that other people had to call you to ask you to poke your head in here and check your own thread. if you ask me, there is no excuse to not check your thread on each forum atleast once every day. It sounds hard man, but your providing a complete service. just follow my tips man and i promise things will change for the best.

Excellent point. The lies just compound the problem and reflect poorly on the proprietor's character.

Re: God must hate me... or does he?

It's unfortunate. This happens a lot, and I've seen it happen to people.

For some people its a never ending cycle and they are always in for the same reason.

I'm glad to see you have recovered from such a simple mistake. Wierd how the system works sometimes.

I mean no hard feelings for what I post on this website. Anything I type/write/post/say on this forum is only that of general debate and discussion. I am not biased toward anyone or anything. I am neutral in everything I do on this website. Only those facts that are presented to me sway my thought process and siding of each discussion topic that I post about.

Re: God must hate me... or does he?

Thanks for all the input from everyone! It really helps me and my business sake. It was a mistake I made to not set priorities and everything. Now I'm on a good track and I cannot dread on the past because it's just going to make me feel down and depressed. I am taking care of all the legal issues along with my other bills that I have to pay. The best thing really is that I don't have to take care of any car payments, insurance payments, gas (other than whoever takes me to get around), and oil (which I was putting 2 quarts in my car every couple days - calculated it to be about $175 a month JUST ON OIL!). I am headed in a good direction without my car, yea it sucks that I need to have people cart me around.. but it now gives me a chance to put money in the bank and start saving and investing more in my business to get things out faster to the customer. I promise that there are no more BS dates for the customer. If I say a day the emblem will be shipped - it will be shipped on or before that actual date followed by a tracking/delivery confirmation number.

Speaking of which, I think you guys should check out my website for some awesome Black Friday pricing!
