NYC trial of 9/11 suspects

WASHINGTON Hauling the professed 9/11 mastermind and four alleged henchmen to a New York courthouse is a risky proposition for President Barack Obama. The move will bar evidence obtained under duress and complicate a case where anything short of slamdunk convictions will empower the president's critics.

I don't think there's much risk involved here, other than any potential security threats. Any good attorney will be able to get the venue changed in a few days anyways. Will probably end up in KC or some other midwest city.

What a surprise. >sarcasm<

NEW YORK The five men facing trial in the Sept. 11 attacks will plead not guilty so that they can air their criticisms of U.S. foreign policy, the lawyer for one of the defendants said.

Mohammed, Ali and the others will explain "their assessment of American foreign policy," Fenstermaker said.

"Their assessment is negative," he said.

I'd imagine most any judge will cut their 'prostelytizing' from the court room short.

Hopefully their rants are more interesting (and lucid) than Moussaui's and Reid's.

LOL. I was mainly talking about the guy who was smart enough to smuggle explosives on a plane, but not smart enough to buy a $.99 lighter instead of matches....
