Looking for graphic artists: compensation for work

Hi everyone!
The company i ride for is called Artick skateboards (based in lebanon, PA). Basically the artists we've been using we're not into much anymore, they're either slacking on getting us graphics, or a bigger issue, their graphics may be causing copyright infringements haha. So right now we're looking around for new artists who can help change the look of our the company because it's been brought to our attention that we seem to be getting the image of a little kid company, which is lame.... Anyway. We're switching board manufacturers and the minimum order is nearly 2x what our old manufacturer was, so we're trying to put out 3 graphics at a time instead of 1. To get an idea of what our old "child like" image was you can check out http://www.myspace.com/artickskateboards As you can see the whole "chilly willy" idea is kind of childish (and copy written). So we're trying to change our image aimed towards the older skate scene as most of us are around 20 years old. We're not too sure where to begin with that, but that's the good thing about artistic freedom! We need someone who has a good artistic eye! I'm pretty well trained in Photoshop but have the artistic skills of a retarded child haha. As we're not a huge company the compensation isn't much, usually either $25 per graphic, or a board with the graphic on it and an Artick skateboards t-shirt. Just let me know if you're interested and maybe some of your past work we can check out!

please send all inquiries to [email protected]

Thanks,
Andrew

Re: Looking for graphic artists: compensation for work

I know a guy who would be perfect but I don't imagine many graphics pros are gonna work for 25 bucks. If you want decent work you might want to consider raising the rate.

Re: Looking for graphic artists: compensation for work

well unfortunately it's not a huge company with huge numbers. We're not looking for the next picasso here but someone who enjoys doing this kind of work, is good at it, and doesn't mind getting payed, i.e. a graphic design student, someone who shows interest in design, someone who enjoys seeing their artwork being sold all over the country etc... If you know someone that meets this criteria that would be awesome, but as I saw, the company doesn't have a ton of money YET, but if we see a large increase in sales due to the new shaped boards/graphics etc, there very well may be a compensation increase.

Not to flame but wouldn't you want to worry about how you are using a myspace address before you worry about your logo?

The link in the OP is bad because it has a period in it.

Re: Looking for graphic artists: compensation for work

yeah, we're starting to get bigger, most of the shops in Pennsylvania now carry our boards, but we're getting complaints about the shape and we personally feel that we're becoming too childish with the graphics and the people who have the money aren't 10 year old kids, they're 20 year old guys, so that's the kind of graphics we need.

Re: Looking for graphic artists: compensation for work

I agree, its kinda childish of a pic (not to mention the obvious copyright infringement) but I sent a message to all my friends in the Graphic Artist field so hopefully someone has the time to invest.

Re: Looking for graphic artists: compensation for work

well i'd say the copyright infringement is more of a concern then the childish graphic but the artists we use now seem to think otherwise....
