Ford announces new safety tech: inflatable seatbelts!

This is pretty crazy, and a great idea if it works as well as they say...

Re: Ford announces new safety tech: inflatable seatbelts!

I'm surprised that they aren't considering using this tech in the front seats at all (at least the passenger side if nothing else)

As survivour of a roll over crash, I can tell you that the seatbelt trauma to my chest from the belt and airbag combination was almost as painful as the mangled leg I suffered in the crash (Not that I wouldn't want either of those things, I just want more protection)

survivor of a roll over crash??

and yea, i think it'll be better in all seatbelts.. more surface area of the seatbelt (when inflated) will put less pressure on body during a crash

You can say that again, rolled over twice trying to avoid a ladder that fell off a truck in front of me on the highway at speed (100km/h = 62MPH)

First hit was so fast the airbag never popped, it was the second hit that popped the bag in my kisser
