New Phone, What's out there??

I wish to seek some assistance... ahem.

Basically I'm trying to lose my pocket raping data plan... and the Moto Q with it...

So suggest some messaging phones, or some good quality flip phones to me.

My only requirements are that it's not a "smartphone" and wont use my data unless told to or receiving a picture, and that it's not way overpriced, preferably anyway. Also I would like a phone with good reception all around.

wants are: a decent camera, full keyboard, tough, thin, easy to use, ability to call, lol

honestly I'd love to find a suitable replacement for my previous phone, the LG8600 ... it was good while it lived, which was for about 2 1/2 years... you can find that exact phone online "new" but idk if I want it again.

I was looking at the Env2 and Env3... but I'm not sure if it's the best out there... My price cap is loosely set around $150-$200 US

most of what I do with my phone is text and call, I'm just as fast with the number pad as with the full keyboard, so it doesnt matter which it has... high quality is a must though...

I enjoy using my internet connection on the phone, but it's not worth the $30 a month to me... that's my CPE CAI sometime next year!

Re: New Phone, What's out there??

I've got the samsung impression, it's a nice phone. Full slide out keyboard, plus full touchscreen if you so wish. 3mp camera which is amazing IF there is light (camera has no flash). it doesn't use internet unless you open the media browser, even for MMS (I have ATT, not sure about other companies). My only complains thus far are the lock screen. When you lock the phone, for the 4-5 seconds until the screen turns off, you can't change the picture on that screen, it cycles through about 8 default pictures that samsung puts on the phone. Compared to other slide phones it is relatively thin.

My fiancee had the samsung solstice for about a week (only because they ran out of the impression) She liked it, it's just the touch screen gets some getting used to. It's essentially the same phone as the impression without the slide out keyboard.

The impression is $75 with a new account, $100 with renewed contract, and the solstice is $25 less under both situations.

Who is your provider? There are quite a few new phones coming out around this time of year. If you like the ENV2/3 and want something a bit more rugged, check out the new Casio Brigade. Not a pretty phone, but very functional IMO.

My mom just told me there are 2 new samsung phones that came out that don't even have reviews yet I don't know anything about them, just throwing that out there.

Re: New Phone, What's out there??

Samsung does make a good phone, as good as LG and better than Motorola (from what I've seen lately). Granted, I've only had 4 phones in 10 years: Motorola StarTacI, Motorola StarTacII, Casio GzOne C-511, Casio GzOne C-711. I like robust and easy to operate phones...and they keep adding features I like that aren't the norm (compass for example).

I miss those StarTacs, should have kept 1 just for nostalgia.

I love my LG Glance, at least once I painted over the gaudy battery cover

Re: New Phone, What's out there??

thanks for the suggestions, I'll be lookin up what I can soon...

I guess I should have said, but my provider is the wonderful Verizon Wireless... who charges $30 a month for data on ONE LINE... BS I say. ... last I checked web page data was less of a bandwidth hog than voice. just saying.
