Motorola Droid

Let's use this thread to discuss the upcoming Droid on Verizon.  This thread is not meant to be a flame war pitting the Droid against iPhone, or blackberry or whatever. Take it elsewhere.

Preliminary specs for the phone were leaked last night:

And a nice preview review was done today by BGR:

http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009/...-droid-preview

I'm in the market for a new smartphone as my current one (Moto Q9c) is getting long in the tooth.  Right now the Droid is at the top of my list because it has great hardware, runs Android 2.0, and is coming out next month.  Anyone else looking at this phone or have thoughts on it?

Re: Motorola Droid

If Verizon doesn't cripple anything for once, it will be my next phone for sure.

Re: Motorola Droid

They shouldn't be able to with Android. It's a part of the user agreement they must sign with Google to use the OS that they can't alter/lock it down in any way. Of course we'll find out for sure soon

Re: Motorola Droid

I might try it out and replace my storm with it.. Although I have been a huge BBerry fan for a couple years now. The storm really aint that bad with a little leaked/hybrid software lol.. I have been really thinking about going back to a regular phone and dumping my $30 data plan but regular phones need that shit now too otherwise you pay per MB for picture messages that people SEND YOU. Rather retarded, but thats how VZW works (I used to work for them and I still think its BS).

Re: Motorola Droid

Yeah I hate Verizon's plans, but love their service. Not thinking about switching though, because it seems better than loving the plan but hating the service like my friends w/ AT&T do

Re: Motorola Droid

I need a new phone bad. Since I can't get the Memior... I guess it puts this at the top of the list... Then I guess the HTC Imagio...

I'm running a Samsung i760 now. It has done me pretty well, but I've had my fair share of simple headaches...

Re: Motorola Droid

I thought AT&T was the most expensive for plans?  At least it was when I looked.  VZW was a little less, and Sprint a little less than that.  This spreadsheet seems to confirm.

http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?k...brWQ&gid=0

I plan on getting the cheapest plan that includes unlimited data, I think it's 450 minutes, which isn't listed here.

Re: Motorola Droid

All the carriers plans are pretty competitive.. I would love to see an iphone on VZWs network. It would make the fan boys go crazy.. I love my VZW service, I just hate paying so damn much. I have 2 phones with unlim texting and data (both bberrys) and I pay $170 a month for it. I am tired of paying so much lol..

Re: Motorola Droid

Supposedly they are testing a 4G iPhone for VZW. I will never buy an iPhone though, I don't need someone telling me how I can use my hardware
