Looking for info on Nürburgring

A few questions...

A. What is the writing all over the track? I can't find any info on this.

B. Jeremy Clarkson said there were hundreds of fatalities on there but I can't only find info on a handful.

C. If I were to take a European vacation (Which I am) what would it take to get a lap on on there?

I know someone here knows..

not much about the writing on the track (altough i think they are just manufacturers that have done something notable there)

but stuff about the deaths

Re: Looking for info on Nürburgring

Thats what I was told. Most of the writing on the track is about someone who died there.

I mean no hard feelings for what I post on this website. Anything I type/write/post/say on this forum is only that of general debate and discussion. I am not biased toward anyone or anything. I am neutral in everything I do on this website. Only those facts that are presented to me sway my thought process and siding of each discussion topic that I post about.

Re: Looking for info on Nürburgring

The writing on the track surface is usually done in chalk...by different people (sometimes fans of certain marquees).
I'm sure there are or have been alot of fatalities, the track is open to the public and has alot of fast turns. Combine several different skill levels, and I'm sure people driving well above their level, and different levels of automotive/motorcycle power and handling capabilities...that can be a recipe for disaster.

You pay a toll to get on the track...but alot of rental agencies and insurance companies will no longer cover you. Best bet, ride in the 'Ring Taxi.

Mike Solowiow, a USAF captain (I believe), writes several articles for TTAC www.thetruthaboutcars.com regarding racing his Porsche on the 'Ring.

You can probably search through the archives or even comments on more information.

Nurburg SUX, lol. On Gt-3 I mastered all tracks but Nurburg, no wonder its one of the most recognized test and race racks of the world. Its borderline impossible to memorize and truyl tests all aspects of a car performance, and does so to the max.

Rent from these guys and you'll be cool. Its expensive, but worth it. Includes insurance coverage, cars have rollcages and suspensions set up for track, this is what you want to take there. Take a regular rental car and you are potentially getting yourself in a LOT of trouble.
