Need your suggestions

I'm thinking about getting into cars and how to possibly rebuild an old vette or older car and replace everything except keep the body. I have a friend of this site and he suggested asking you guys if you have any good books or anything to help a man get started.

Thanks for your time.

Don't know of any books. You might possibly look at taking some automotive classes at your local college or trade school. In New York we have something called B.O.C.E.S. which offers classes on Automotive, nursing and and other trades. Maybe start by taking an intro to Automotive class. Not only will you learn how to do the basics i.e. learn to change oil, etc but find out if this is something you really want to do. I have known a few people who have bought project cars only to end up with expensive lawn ornaments. It can be quite a challenge but also very rewarding. Good luck to you and have fun.

Re: Need your suggestions

There may also be some show and shines in your area. You could head on down to one and just start talking it up with some of the people that are there. Networking my friend. Same as what you are doing by posting this question here, only you will actually be able to see that person and the results of there labour.

Wish you great success

Haynes manual... I would also suggest taking some automotive classes at local community college or trade school. Also, once you decide on what your project is going to be, put some work into finding an online community similar to this. If it's one thing i've discovered its that forums or "owners groups" have an endless supply of information and usually thousands of memebers willing to give their advice and sometimes literally a helping hand. Good luck.

Take a shower after working on the car, you're probably gonna get dirty and sweaty.
