Education gate

Or as I like to call it, Edugate

Seriously, why the hell do some people have an issue with Obama's speech to school kids? I mean come on, is saying "Your responsible for your own failures. You have to work hard and take personal responsibility in life" really that horrible? I mean it is the truth.

Re: Education gate

I haven't heard much about it since the actual delivery of the speech. I facepalmed a few times after seeing local parents on the national news saying their kids shouldn't be exposed to the socialist agenda.

Obama's a decent person (relative to most politicians), and he's certainly not a socialist nor is he the antichrist. WTF was he going to indoctrinate the children with? Is he out to create the Obama Youth?

Some people are so freakin' stupid. Even if you disagree with the man's politics, him giving a motivational type speech to our nation's children is not going to turn them into mindless sheep.

Re: Education gate

That was actually how I felt. I happen to agree with a lot of his politics, certainly not all, I mean no one is perfect...well except maybe me , but come on, what the heck was in the speech that was so objectional?

I really think its that people have an issue with him no matter what he says, though I could say that same for Bush. Even the few things he said that I actually agreed with it left me feeling slimy and dirty hearing him say it.

I think to many people heard folks like O'Reily or other quacks spouting crap about the speech and immediately believe them without bothering to read the speech. Now the schools that refused to show the speech, come on, did they bother to preview it? If they did I am honestly horrified that someone with a college education who is teaching our kids thinks a motivational speed is socialist agenda, etc, etc, ad nauseum.

LOL!

People look for a reason to complain about anything. It's nothing more than that.

I have to disagree with that statement.

I think moderates don't agree with other people 50% of the time, other people agree with moderates 50% of the time (my glass half full instead of half empty attitude, or better yet the realist. There's half a glass).

I am a moderate to, but probably leaning a bit more toward the socialist antichrist side of things.

Re: Education gate

the issue was the lesson plan... about learning about obama and sending letters to themselves about how they can help the president.

If it was a pep rally, there wouldn' tbe an issue. I personally don't mind a president talking to the kids but don't tell them to read about you (bush, clinton obama, etc..) I like how he changed the lesson plan to cover no about him. If he would have done that from the start, there wouldn't be much of an issue.

HOWEVER... let's not forget the Dems called congressional hearing when Bush Sr did the same thing. Clinton and Bush Jr talked to indiviudal schools and not nationwide, thus there wasn't hoopla.

Re: Education gate

I don't support Obama at all. I think he is worthless. But this issue, shouldn't be an issue. He is talking to kids, big deal!!! Some people are up in arms about it, just to be mad.
