Blackberry or not ???

Need a new mobile phone. I'm thinking of a Blackberry Pearl 8230 flip. Any opinions out there....good or bad. I'm in Canada on the Bell network....

I'd say any blackberry other than the pearl will do you good. I had the pearl as my first one and the keyboard just wasn't doing it for me. I graduated to a full qwerty keyboard and was much happier.

Re: Blackberry or not ???

Had a Pearl through work for about 1 week before I demanded for the full keyboard. Everyone else I know with the Pearl doesn't like it. To each their own, though.

Re: Blackberry or not ???

My wife had the pearl and I had the curve and the curve is a lot easier to work with. I didn't like the pearl to much when she had it. Texting on it was way to hard for my brain.

Re: Blackberry or not ???

Let me say first off, I have always been against apple. I hate how the company is run and the limitations in their products.

That said, I ended up buying an iPod this summer. I have never had much likeing for touch screens but I got used to it fast. I do not like my dads blackberry because I think it is complicated and cumbersome. If I didn't have a CDMA network I would get an iPhone. I have jailbroken my iPod and the possibilties are endless.

Sorry if anyone is bothered by me courrupting a blackberry post with iPhone stuff, but I see it as another good option.

Re: Blackberry or not ???

I briefly looked at BB's recently when replacing my palm treo. A lot of people I work with have them and for the most part are happy with them. I played with a friend's for a couple of hours and I wanted to bash my head against a wall. It was organized horribly, the menus made little sense, and little about it was intuitive..... hell I had to go through four pages of stuff to play music. After mentioning these things to friends with BB's they all say, "Oh yeah, the menus and stuff sucks, but you get used to it". I don't want to get used to it, I want it to make sense from the beginning.

To that end I played with the same friend's iphone for five minutes and fell in love with it. I'm not an apple fanboy, and actually despise how much the mp3 market is centered around ipods (especially when people refer to a 3.5mm audio jack in a car like the Mz3 as "An ipod plug&quot. That said everything on the iphone was where I expected it to be, was easily accessible, and gave me no problems. I've had it for about a month and haven't found anything to be unhappy with. I was a little concerned about typing but I find I can type more quickly with the touch screen than I ever could on my treo's hard keyboard (similar to the BB qwerty one). The only things that gave me hang ups were getting my contacts from the treo to the iphone, and making mp3 ringtones, both I figured out easily.
