What Car To Take On A Roadtrip?

Simple question: You are about to embark on a two-day, 800-mile road trip across several states. What NEW (2009 or 2010) vehicle would you choose and why? It must be something fun and cool, but comfortable, practical, and gets respectable gas mileage if possible.

I know some of you are tempted to say Ferrari or something outlandish, but be reasonable. Take some time and think about it. Give me your TOP THREE picks.

From Columbus Ohio to NW Chicago. So mostly flat, boring roads.

So are you suggesting the SLK or the slow-ass motorhome?

The motorhome for road trip comfort, the SLK for when you park.

In reality, I'd probably get a non-turbo hatch of some sort (like a MZ3). :P

2010 Mustang (sporty, room for my stuff, gets decent gas mileage)
STi (fun to drive, even more room for my stuff, decent gas mileage but premium)
Fusion (comfortable for long hauls, plenty of room for stuff, best gas mileage out of the 3)

Cleverly disguised as a responsible college student...

Re: What Car To Take On A Roadtrip?

for trips... i really like SUVs or crossovers. but a really quick list would be...

infiniti FX35 i doubt it would have good gas mileage but it would be very comfortable and luxurious
Audi A4 2.0 T not an suv or crossover but a full sized sedan and not too bad on gas mileage
ms3 wouldnt be too bad either. since its got cargo room and plenty of speed/comfort if youre not too picky
