Laptop Question

I don't know much about computers, but I'm thinking of getting a laptop for checking email and going online. I really wouldn't do much else with it. Would this be a good computer to get or should I maybe spend a little more and get something better?

Re: Laptop Question

That is more than enough for your needs. Seems like a pretty good deal too...

Re: Laptop Question

The speed seems ok? I don't want to have to wait for five minutes if someone sends me an email with a picture in it.

Re: Laptop Question

I was just reading a bit about it and now I'm not too sure. Sounds like some battery issues.

The battery was my concern too.

Outside of that, a good deal for a decent brand basic laptop.

Re: Laptop Question

That Compaq is probably one of the best deals out there; especially with an 8200M video card. But if you're sticking to e-mail and web, you could even get away with a netbook.

Re: Laptop Question

I've got a similar Compaq I use on the road and it works great. It's used for internet and SOME excel..that's it but works VERY well. Battery life is excellent and I've had it for about 2 yrs..battery still holds a charge too. I don't know anything about netbooks but I'd think to spend 300 or so on a laptop..might as well get one you can use for other things too.
