Haha rice burner.

Okay, so where I'm from, many people still hold loyalty to American made cars, particularly General Motors. I've gotten a lot of crap for buying a "rice burner", a "Jap car", etc. I find it funny, especially when my mechanic texted me today and said "Heard what you did...Uncle Ben's burns best." I told him my car prefers Zataran's, the Cajun rice.

There's a lot of Toyotas running around here, and Hondas as well. But GM vehicles still hold their own as far as the sales figures in my area. I mean, I still like a lot of GM's cars, but the 3 was exactly what I wanted and is eleventy-bajillion (my own personal number) times better than a Cobalt could ever be, right? Plus, I was shocked at the actual price of Cobalts.

Anybody else been teased for driving a "rice burner?"

Re: Haha rice burner.

Go get yourself some of them there vent holes for the fenders then you can be called rice legally. Until then your stock 3 should be safe.

Most folks in these parts if and when get called rice, there is a damn good reason for it. Not just cause its non-american.

Re: Haha rice burner.

That's when I refer to a car as rice. If it's got an ugly ten-foot wing, multi-colored wheels, a crappy paint job, an exhaust can the size of a bucket, etc. then it's rice.

My car has ZERO modifications. It is as it came from Japan.

Re: Haha rice burner.

I just responded with the reasoning that imports sell better for a reason, and there's also a reason Toyota, Mazda, Honda, etc. are not bankrupt while GM and Chrysler are.

I mean, I still like GM. My Grand Am was a great car while I had it. But I <3 my Mazda too, and it likes gasoline just like the Pontiac did. No rice.
